Meta AnalysisPreoperative radiotherapy of advanced rectal cancer with capecitabine and oxaliplatin with or without cetuximab: A pooled analysis of three prospective phase I-II trials.
A pooled analysis of three prospective trials of preoperative radiochemotherapy (RCT) for rectal cancer by using oxaliplatin and capecitabine with or without cetuximab was performed to evaluate the impact of additional cetuximab on pathologic complete response (pCR) rates and tumor regression (TRG) grades. ⋯ Triple therapy with RCT and cetuximab seems to be feasible, with no unexpected toxicity. Early response assessment (TRG), however, suggests subadditive interaction. A longer follow-up (and finally randomized trials) is needed to draw any firm conclusions with respect to local and distant failure rates.

Multicenter StudyParotid gland function after radiotherapy: the combined michigan and utrecht experience.
To analyze the combined and updated results from the University of Michigan and University Medical Center Utrecht on normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) of the parotid gland 1 year after radiotherapy (RT) for head-and-neck (HN) cancer. ⋯ A definite NTCP curve for parotid gland function 1 year after RT is presented, based on mean dose. No threshold dose was observed, and TD(50) was equal to 40 Gy.

Randomized Controlled TrialLocal response and impact on survival after local ablation of liver metastases from colorectal carcinoma by computed tomography-guided high-dose-rate brachytherapy.
To determine local tumor control after CT-guided brachytherapy at various dose levels and the prognostic impact of extensive cytoreduction in colorectal liver metastases. ⋯ Local tumor control after CT-guided brachytherapy of colorectal liver metastases demonstrated a strong dose dependency. The role of extensive minimally invasive tumor ablation in metastatic colorectal cancer needs to be further established.

Multicenter StudyDo patients receiving whole-brain radiotherapy for brain metastases from renal cell carcinoma benefit from escalation of the radiation dose?
Whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) is the most common treatment for brain metastases from renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Most patients cannot receive more aggressive therapies including surgery or radiosurgery. The standard WBRT regimen, 30 Gy/10 fractions (10 × 3 Gy), has resulted in poor survival (OS). This study investigates whether escalation of the WBRT dose improves treatment outcomes. ⋯ The findings suggest that escalation of the WBRT dose beyond 10 × 3 Gy improves outcomes in patients with brain metastases from RCC. The results should be confirmed in a randomized trial stratifying for significant prognostic factors.

Toxicity analysis of postoperative image-guided intensity-modulated radiotherapy for prostate cancer.
To report on the acute and late gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) toxicity associated with a unique technique of image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) in patients undergoing postprostatectomy irradiation. ⋯ Image-guided IMRT in the postprostatectomy setting is associated with a low frequency of acute and late GI/GU toxicity. These results compare more favorably to radiotherapy techniques that do not use in-room image-guidance, suggesting that daily prostate bed localization may reduce the incidence of adverse events in patients undergoing postprostatectomy irradiation.
