The lateral tibial posterior slope (LTPS) has been reported in multiple studies to correlate with an increased risk for native anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tearing. To date, no study has examined the effect of an increased LTPS as measured on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on the likelihood of ACL graft failure. ⋯ An increased LTPS is associated with an increased risk for early ACL graft failure, regardless of graft type. Orthopaedic surgeons should consider measuring the LTPS as part of the preoperative assessment of ACL-injured patients.

Anatomic anterolateral ligament (ALL) reconstruction has been proposed to assist anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in controlling anterolateral rotational laxity of the knee. However, the biomechanical effects have not been reported. ⋯ Profiling the biomechanical characteristics of anterolateral reconstruction is integral to understanding the implications and potential benefit of such an additional procedure to ACL reconstruction.

Early functional treatment versus cast immobilization in tension after achilles rupture repair: results of a prospective randomized trial with 10 or more years of follow-up.
There are no long-term prospective controlled trials comparing postoperative regimens after Achilles tendon rupture repair. ⋯ After the 11-year follow-up, early mobilization and immobilization in tension after Achilles rupture repair resulted in similar clinical outcomes and isokinetic strengths. Regardless of patient satisfaction with the operative treatment, calf muscle strength did not recover normally even at 11-year follow-up.

Platelet-rich plasma for arthroscopic repair of medium to large rotator cuff tears: a randomized controlled trial.
Two main questions about the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for regeneration purposes are its effect on the speed of healing and the quality of healing. Despite recent numerous studies, evidence is still lacking in this area, especially in a representative patient population with medium to large rotator cuff tears. ⋯ Compared with repairs without PRP augmentation, the current PRP preparation and application methods for medium to large rotator cuff repairs significantly improved the quality, as evidenced by a decreased retear rate and increased CSA of the supraspinatus, but not the speed of healing. However, further studies may be needed to investigate the effects of PRP on the speed of healing without risking the quality.
