Arthroscopically assisted 2-bundle anatomical reduction of acute acromioclavicular joint separations.
To achieve reduction of an acute acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation, novel procedures aim to provide stability and function by restoring the coracoclavicular anatomy. ⋯ Immediate anatomical reduction of an acute AC separation with flip-button devices provides satisfactory clinical results at intermediate-term follow-up. This technique should be performed by an experienced arthroscopist; tunnel and button placement are of utmost importance to avoid postoperative failure or loss of reduction.

Intrinsic risk factors for hamstring injuries among male soccer players: a prospective cohort study.
Strain injuries of the posterior thigh are common in soccer. It seems that previous injury and age are important risk factors, but the literature is limited. This study was conducted to see if we could identify intrinsic risk factors for hamstring injuries among male soccer players. ⋯ In a multivariate analysis, previous acute hamstring injury was found to be a significant risk factor for new hamstring injuries. Previously injured players have more than twice as high a risk of sustaining a new hamstring injury.

The medium-term results of autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) have shown good to excellent outcomes for the majority of patients. However, no long-term results 10 to 20 years after the surgery have been reported. ⋯ Autologous chondrocyte implantation has emerged as an effective and durable solution for the treatment of large full-thickness cartilage and osteochondral lesions of the knee joint. Our study suggests that the clinical and functional outcomes remain high even 10 to 20 years after the implantation.

Biplane radiologic evaluation is indispensable for the correct diagnosis of acute acromioclavicular (AC) joint injuries. Thus far, no functional radiographic techniques have been quantified to evaluate horizontal instability in acute AC joint dislocations. ⋯ Horizontal instability of the distal clavicle in acute AC joint injuries represents an indication for surgical treatment. Dynamic axillary radiologic evaluation may detect previously missed unstable injuries. This evaluation might be relevant when deciding on surgical AC joint stabilization.

First-generation autologous chondrocyte implantation has limitations, and introducing new effective cell sources can improve cartilage repair. ⋯ Using BMSCs in cartilage repair is as effective as chondrocytes for articular cartilage repair. In addition, it required 1 less knee surgery, reduced costs, and minimized donor-site morbidity.
