To understand how tackling leads to injury in football, to develop a framework for classifying tackles, and to identify tackles with the greatest propensity to cause injury. ⋯ The laws of football relating to tackling should be reviewed to provide greater protection from injury by reducing the overall level of risk and, in particular, by protecting players from tackles with the highest propensity for causing injury.

Hand and wrist injuries in sports are some of the most common injuries reported. This review discusses briefly the causes of hand and wrist injuries in sports and discusses pertinent biomechanical findings regarding the range of motion required in different sports activities. The bulk of the review discusses specific traumatic and overuse injuries to the hand and wrist commonly seen in the athlete. Emphasis is placed on problematic traumatic injuries such as carpal scaphoid fractures and hook of the hamate fractures, as well as ligament injuries to the wrist with regard to diagnosis, treatment, and return to athletic competition.

Early weightbearing and ankle mobilization after open repair of acute midsubstance tears of the achilles tendon.
To study the effects of early weightbearing and ankle mobilization after acute repair of ruptured Achilles tendon. ⋯ Early weightbearing with the ankle plantigrade is not detrimental to the outcome of repair after acute rupture of the Achilles tendon and shortens the time needed for rehabilitation. However, strength deficit and muscle atrophy are not prevented.
