Repair of meniscal tears is generally preferred over meniscectomy. ⋯ Outcomes from meniscal repair were not superior to those from partial removal. Patients with repaired degenerative tears had significantly lower subjective scores than those with nondegenerative tears.

Tibial fixation of hamstring tendon grafts has been the weak link in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. ⋯ Use of the central four-quadrant sleeve and screw system offers increased strength of fixation in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with hamstring tendon graft.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial
Effect of drain use in the early postoperative period after arthroscopically assisted anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with bone-patellar tendon-bone graft.
Little data exist on the effect of routine use of postoperative drainage after arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, although clinical studies of other procedures have not shown benefit to this practice. ⋯ Use of a drain after arthroscopically assisted anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction provided no benefit in terms of range of motion, effusion, or pain in the early postoperative period.

Comparative Study
Relationship between postconcussion headache and neuropsychological test performance in high school athletes.
The relevance of headache to outcome after sports-related concussion is poorly understood. ⋯ Findings suggest that any degree of postconcussion headache in high school athletes 7 days after injury is likely associated with an incomplete recovery after concussion.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial
Patellar tendon or semitendinosus tendon autografts for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction? A prospective randomized study with a two-year follow-up.
There are well-known problems with the use of bone-patellar tendon-bone autografts for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, especially in terms of donor site morbidity. Hamstring tendon grafts have been increasingly used as an alternative, but there are very few controlled studies comparing the methods. ⋯ The semitendinosus tendon graft is at least an equivalent option to the bone-patellar tendon-bone graft for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and we recommend its use.
