To assess whether there was a difference in score between paper and telephone administration of disability and psychological questionnaires relevant to patients with an upper extremity illness. ⋯ Shorter questionnaires can be used to assess disability and psychological factors by phone. Phone administration of measures of disability and psychological factors can replace paper administration in studies that do not require in-person examination.

Several biomechanical studies using cadavers have revealed that axial rotation deformity of the forearm bones reduces forearm motion. However, little information is available on the 3-dimensional deformity patterns, including axial rotation deformity in malunited diaphyseal fractures of the forearm. The complex deformity of both forearm bones is difficult to assess on plain radiographs or cross-sectional images. Therefore, we assessed osseous deformity in malunited diaphyseal fractures of the forearm using 3-dimensioinal analysis. ⋯ Three-dimensional forearm osteotomy, including rotational realignment, is necessary to obtain anatomical reduction.

To report our technique and results with treating fingertip amputations with flaps and simultaneous nailbed grafts. ⋯ This method is useful for the restoration of dorsal oblique or transverse type fingertip amputations and is a good alternative when replantation is not an option.

Endoscopic cubital tunnel release was originally described in 1989 by Tsai, and his technique has been modified by other surgeons including Mirza and Cobb. In 2006, Hoffmann and Siemionow described an endoscopic technique quite different from Tsai's original description. Instead of working from the "inside out," Hoffmann's technique is performed through an incision similar to that which would be used for an in situ release of the ulnar nerve. ⋯ Any potential bleeding is controlled with a long bayonet bipolar cautery. The authors discuss indications, contraindications, and the surgical technique. Postoperative management and associated complications are also discussed.
