Cohort study. ⋯ We conclude that the questionnaires were successfully translated and show acceptable measurement properties, and, as such, are suitable for use in clinical and research applications.

Population-based incidence cohort. ⋯ Depressive symptomatology after whiplash is common, occurs early after the injury, and is often persistent or recurrent. This suggests that, like neck pain and headache, depressed symptomatology is part of the cluster of acute whiplash symptoms. Clinicians should be aware of both physical and psychologic injuries after traffic collisions.

Seven patients affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy with neck hyperextension or poor head control in extension have undergone surgery consisting of posterior cervical interspinous fusion. ⋯ Surgical treatment of neck hyperextension in these patients contributes to a better sitting position, to an easier nursing, to a better appearance.

Relative versus absolute modulation of growth in the fusionless treatment of experimental scoliosis.
Absolute and relative growth modulation of apical spinal segments were measured during creation and correction of an experimental scoliosis in a goat model. ⋯ Data in this study show the ability to modulate relative and absolute growth, according to the Hueter-Volkmann law, at the apical spinal segment of a progressive experimental scoliosis. However, anterior vertebral stapling, although able to control progressive wedging and scoliosis at the apical spinal segment, was not able to reverse fully the Hueter-Volkmann effect.

Biomechanical laboratory research. ⋯ The 4 techniques equally restored strength and stiffness. No difference was seen in height restoration. Cement extrusion was significant in only 1 vertebral body, which may be attributable to the cement quantity.
