Multicenter Study
Perioperative Complications and Health-Related Quality of Life Outcomes in Severe Pediatric Spinal Deformity.
Prospective multicenter cohort study. ⋯ Most perioperative complications for severe pediatric spinal deformity resolve within 2-years postoperatively and do not result in adverse HRQoL outcomes. However, patients with unresolved complications have decreased HRQoL outcomes.
-
Retrospective cohort study. ⋯ ACDF performed for patients with CCLF grade 2 showed inferior JOA score improvement compared with those with CCLF grade 0 or 1. ACDF cannot remove posterior compressive structures, which limits its utility when ligamentum flavum significantly contributes to cord compression.

Retrospective Review. ⋯ Large screw sizes have similar safety profiles to standard screws without negatively impacting surgical and perioperative outcomes in AIS patients undergoing PSF. Additionally, coronal, sagittal, and rotational correction is superior for larger-diameter screws in AIS patients.

Retrospective review of a prospectively enrolled adult spinal deformity (ASD) database. ⋯ When addressing adult spine deformities, poor outcomes tend to occur in severely comorbid patients with major baseline psychological distress scores, poor neurologic function, and concomitant cervical malalignment.
