Retrospective review of prospectively collected data. ⋯ We validated both the internal and external responsiveness of the 6MWD using the ODI and estimated the MCID in the 6MWD for patients undergoing LSS surgery. However, there was lower validity for the MCID among those participants with the high walking ability and low disability at baseline.

In vitro study. ⋯ Irisin increases hNPC proliferation, GAG content, metabolic activity, and promotes anabolic gene expression while reducing catabolic markers. Irisin may be one of the mediators by which PE and muscle tissues modulate IVD metabolism, suggesting the existence of a biological cross-talk between the muscle and IVD.

Retrospective study. ⋯ Among patients with AIS who underwent spinal fusion(s) between 1968 and 1982, we found health-related QOL to be maintained over the last 13 years. Relatively good QOL was appreciated in this population of patients who are now middle-aged and older.

Cervical disk arthroplasty replacement (CDA) was developed to avoid specific disadvantages of cervical fusion. The purpose of this paper is to provide 10-year follow-up results of an ongoing prospective study after CDA. ⋯ Our 10-year results showed significant improvement in all clinical outcomes, with low rates of revision or failure. This experience in patients with long-term follow-up after CDA endorses durable, favorable outcomes in properly selected patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Treatment with Opioids Is Not Associated with Poor Outcomes Among Older Adults with Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Receiving Epidural Injections.
Secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial. ⋯ Among older adults with lumbar spinal stenosis who are receiving epidural injections, those treated with opioids at baseline had similar outcomes to those who were not.
