Observational Study
Risk Factors for Ambulatory Surgery Conversion to Extended Stay Among Patients Undergoing One- or Two-Level Posterior Lumbar Decompression.
A retrospective observational study. ⋯ Several surgical factors along with patient-specific factors were significantly associated with AMS conversion. Addressing modifiable surgical factors might reduce the AMS conversion rate and be beneficial to patients and facilities.
-
Retrospective review of prospectively collected data. ⋯ With an AUC of 0.829, NDI showed an excellent discriminative ability. Patients with NDI ≤21 are expected to achieve PASS following degenerative cervical spine surgery.
-
Double-blinded, prospective laboratory animal study. ⋯ These results demonstrate that spine surgery for unilateral laminectomy induces central sensitization that results in postoperative pain hypersensitivity. Intraoperative SCS after laminectomy may be able to mitigate the development of this hypersensitivity in appropriately selected cases.
