Multicenter Study
Sex-Related Differences in Epidemiology, Treatment and Economic Burden of Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury in China (2013-2018).
Retrospective epidemiological study. ⋯ This study suggests that although the main population of TSCI is male, the average ratio of males to females is decreasing. The frequency of TSCI may be increasing faster in females than in males. Therefore, it is necessary to develop sex-specific public prevention measures. In addition, more medical resources should be devoted to improving the ability of hospitals to perform early surgery.

Impact of Pre-operative Duration of Symptoms on Patient Satisfaction, Outcomes and Complications after Lumbar Discectomy: A Propensity Matched Comparison.
Observational study. ⋯ 3.
-
Prospective cohort study. ⋯ Lenke classification and especially its curve type (major thoracic vs. major thoracolumbar scoliosis) was associated with long-term health-related quality of life after instrumented spinal fusion for AIS.

Observational Study
High Cell Saver Autotransfusion is Associated with Perioperative Medical Complications in Adult Spinal Deformity Patients.
A retrospective, propensity-matched observational study. ⋯ Our findings indicate that greater CS volumes transfused are associated with higher rates of 30-day readmissions. Thus, surgeons should consider limiting CS volume intraoperatively to 550 mL and when greater volumes are required or preferred, ensuring that the ratio of CS:EBL remains under 0.33.

Retrospective cohort study. ⋯ Our findings suggest there is limited risk of malpractice litigation due to steroid use or lack thereof in the treatment of ASCI. As such, steroid-related treatment decisions for ASCI should be informed by evidence-based approaches to care not influenced by medicolegal concerns.
