MRI has been used for almost two decades for the evaluation of peripheral nerve disorders. This article highlights the relative advantages and disadvantages of 3T MR neurography in the evaluation of peripheral neuropathies. The authors also describe the high-resolution MR neurography technique on 3T MRI, along with the approach to its interpretation that has evolved at one institution.

One of the most common indications for performing magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the lumbar spine is the symptom complex thought to originate as a result of degenerative disk disease. MR imaging, which has emerged as perhaps the modality of choice for imaging degenerative disk disease, can readily demonstrate disk pathology, degenerative endplate changes, facet and ligamentous hypertrophic changes, and the sequelae of instability. ⋯ As available modalities for imaging the spine have progressed from radiography, myelography, and computed tomography to MR imaging, there have also been advances in spine surgery for degenerative disk disease. These advances are described in a temporal context for historical purposes with a focus on MR imaging's history and current state.

To examine the efficacy of ultrasound (US)-guided injections for midfoot joint degenerative changes. ⋯ US-guided intra-articular injections for midfoot degenerative changes can have a good therapeutic result in the majority of patients up to 3 months post-injection. Therapeutic response cannot be predicted by a positive diagnostic response.

A tailored review of peer-reviewed abstracts presented at the 2010 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting was performed following oral presentation. This review will highlight 15 formal and informal scientific paper presentations focusing on three main topics: (1) 3D isotropic MR imaging of joints, (2) diffusion tensor imaging of peripheral nerves, and (3) dual-energy CT in the diagnosis of Gout.

The purpose of this study was to assess retrospectively the characteristics of FDG uptake in elastofibroma dorsi using integrated PET/CT. ⋯ Mild and moderate uptake of FDG is frequently observed in elastofibroma dorsi, which should not be misinterpreted as abnormal accumulation observed in malignant lesions.
