Comparative StudyComparison of Free-Breathing With Navigator-Triggered Technique in Diffusion Weighted Imaging for Evaluation of Small Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Effect on Image Quality and Intravoxel Incoherent Motion Parameters.
To evaluate the effect on image quality and intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) parameters of small hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) from choice of either free-breathing (FB) or navigator-triggered (NT) diffusion-weighted (DW) imaging. ⋯ The NT DW imaging technique offers no advantage in IVIM parameters measurements of small HCC except better image quality, whereas FB technique offers greater confidence in fitted diffusion parameters for matched acquisition periods.

Evaluation of Acute Abdominal Pain in the Emergency Setting Using Computed Tomography Without Oral Contrast in Patients With Body Mass Index Greater Than 25.
To evaluate the rate of delayed or missed diagnoses and need for additional computed tomography (CT) imaging in emergency department patients with abdominal pain who are imaged without oral contrast. ⋯ In patients with body mass index greater than 25 presenting to the ED with acute abdominal pain, CT examinations can be acquired without oral contrast without compromising the clinical efficacy of CT.

Low-Dose Pelvic Computed Tomography Using Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction 3-Dimensional Algorithm: A Phantom Study.
To evaluate the image quality and radiation dose reduction in pelvic computed tomography (CT) achieved with an adaptive iterative dose reduction 3-dimensional (AIDR 3D) algorithm using a phantom model. ⋯ The AIDR 3D algorithm substantially reduced image noise and improved the image quality of pelvic CT images compared with those obtained with the FBP algorithm and can thus be considered a promising technique for low-dose pelvic CT examinations.

Additional Diagnostic Value of Inversion Recovery Single-Shot Fast-Spin Echo Sequence in Differentiation Between Hepatic Hemangiomas and Cysts.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the additional diagnostic value of "inversion recovery" single-shot fast-spin echo (IR-SSFSE) sequence using the inversion time at the null point for hepatic hemangiomas as a supplement to standard T2-weighted (T2W) magnetic resonance imaging for the distinction of hemangiomas and cysts. ⋯ Inversion recovery single-shot fast-spin echo sequence using the inversion time to null signal from the hepatic hemangiomas as a supplement to standard T2W images is useful for distinguishing hemangiomas from hepatic cysts without the need for intravenous gadolinium chelate administration.

Comparative StudyUltralow-Dose Abdominal Computed Tomography: Comparison of 2 Iterative Reconstruction Techniques in a Prospective Clinical Study.
To assess lesion detection and image quality of ultralow-dose (ULD) abdominal computed tomography (CT) reconstructed with filtered back projection (FBP) and 2 iterative reconstruction techniques: hybrid-based iDose, and image-based SafeCT. ⋯ Preliminary results show that ULD abdominal CT reconstructed with iterative reconstruction techniques is achievable in smaller patients (BMI ≤ 25 kg/m) but remains a challenge for overweight to obese patients. Lesion detection is similar in full-dose SD FBP and ULD iDose/SafeCT images, with suboptimal visibility of low-contrast lesions in ULD images.
