Review Case ReportsSilicone pulmonary embolism: report of 10 cases and review of the literature.
To assess patient outcome and imaging findings of patients with pulmonary embolism of fluid silicone. ⋯ Illicit injection of large volumes of fluid silicone for cosmetic purposes is associated with pulmonary embolism and acute alveolar hemorrhage and is associated with a significant mortality.

Case Reports Comparative StudyIncreased risk of general anesthesia for high-risk patients undergoing magnetic resonance imaging.
The aim of this study was to review mortality rate pertinent to anesthesia in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) settings and compare it with operating room (OR) mortality rate. ⋯ Over the last 2 decades, the scope of anesthesia practice has expanded to include remote sites away from the operating room. As the number of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions performed outside the operating room continues to increase, anesthesiologists are being faced with challenges of providing care for more medically complex patients while adapting to fewer resources, with lack of support system commonly available in the operating room. In this article, we present three pediatric cases resulting in poor outcomes, all of which occurred in our MRI suite.

Mediastinal hematomas are the end result of numerous conditions ranging from the deadly traumatic aortic injury to the common changes after open heart surgery. The location of the hematoma, its relation with the surrounding structures, the clinical history, and associated findings can help narrow the differential diagnosis. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography is the imaging modality of choice because of its accessibility, noninvasiveness, rapid acquisition, and ability to evaluate the entire thorax at once.

Imaging findings of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw with emphasis on early magnetic resonance imaging findings.
To describe the imaging findings of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) with emphasis on early magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings. ⋯ Osteonecrosis of the mandible and maxilla occurs as a complication of bisphosphonate treatment of bone metastasis and osteoporosis and typically manifests after a dental procedure. Magnetic resonance imaging and bone scintigraphy findings may precede clinical symptoms and mimic metastatic disease.

Diffusion tensor imaging abnormalities in patients with mild traumatic brain injury and neurocognitive impairment.
To determine if diffusion tensor imaging can differentiate patients with chronic cognitive impairment after mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) from normal controls. ⋯ These results demonstrate low FA and high ADC in the genu of the corpus callosum of mild TBI patients with persistent cognitive impairment, suggesting that permanent white matter ultrastructural damage occurs in mild TBI, and that such damage may be associated with persistent cognitive disability. Further longitudinal studies are warranted to elucidate the full importance of the findings.
