Our goal was to find a causal relation between disk degeneration in nonfused lumbar segments, back pain, and the angle of scoliotic curves 21-30 years after dorsal spondylodesis. ⋯ A lack of correlation between disk degeneration in unfused lumbar segments and other parameters like fusion level, back pain, and scoliotic angle can be assessed in the long-term follow-up of multisegment fusion of scoliotic curves.

Tree-in-bud pattern: frequency and significance on thin section CT.
Our goal was to describe those diseases of the airways that manifest the tree-in-bud (TIB) pattern on CT scan and to establish a differential diagnosis for this CT scan finding. ⋯ The TIB pattern on CT scan is mostly associated with pulmonary infections that commonly involve the large airways. This pattern was present in 17.6% of cases with acute bronchitis or pneumonia and 25.6% of cases with bronchiectasis.

CT-guided intraarticular corticosteroid injection into the sacroiliac joints in patients with spondyloarthropathy: indication and follow-up with contrast-enhanced MRI.
Our goal was to prospectively study the therapeutic efficacy of CT-guided intraarticular corticosteroid instillation of inflamed sacroiliac joints (SIJs) in patients with spondyloarthropathies and to evaluate the role of MRI as a procedure for establishing the indication and for therapeutic follow-up. ⋯ CT-guided intraarticular corticosteroid instillation in the SIJs may be regarded as an effective therapy for florid sacroiliitis. The severity of inflammation and the response to therapy can be determined quantitatively by dynamic MRI.

Case ReportsCase report. Chemical-shift MRI of exogenous lipoid pneumonia.
Exogenous lipoid pneumonia results from the aspiration or inhalation of fatty substances, such as mineral oil found in laxatives or nasal medications containing liquid paraffin. We present standard and lipid-sensitive (Chemical-shift) MR findings in a patient with histologically confirmed lipoid pneumonia. The loss of signal intensity in an area of airspace disease on opposed-phase imaging was considered specific for the presence of lipid.

Spontaneous vertebral dissection: clinical, conventional angiographic, CT, and MR findings.
The purpose of this study was to determine if typical clinical and neuroradiologic patterns exist in patients with spontaneous vertebral artery (VA) dissection. ⋯ No preferred site of dissection along the course of the VA was found in this study. CT and MR examinations of the head are frequently normal in patients with VA dissections. No correlation between clinical outcome and findings at repeat angiography was demonstrated.
