Management of a type two avulsion fracture of the tibial intercondylar eminence in children: arthroscopic suture fixation versus conservative immobilization.
Treatment of a type II tibial eminence avulsion fracture was controversial. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of a modified arthroscopic suture fixation versus conservative immobilization in treatment of this type fracture in immature population. ⋯ In treatment of type II tibial eminence avulsion fracture, a modified, 8 shape suture fixation under arthroscopy showed superior clinical outcomes than nonsurgical immobilization in term of restoring the laxity of paediatric ACL.

Total hip arthroplasty with a dual mobility cup (DMC) is a proposed alternative to the widely performed bipolar hemiarthroplasty (BHA) for treating displaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures (DFNF) in the elderly. However, the comparison between the two modalities has not been extensively conducted thus far. ⋯ In DFNF patients aged over 65 years, short-term observation showed DMC to be the preferred treatment over BHA with better clinical outcome, without disadvantages in mortality or dislocation rate. Further long-term investigations are recommended to strengthen these results.

The aim of this study was to identify independent risk factors for surgical site infection (SSI) and quantify the incidence of SSI in tibial plateau fractures after open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). ⋯ The SSI incidence was high (5.7%) after surgical tibial plateau fractures by ORIF and open fracture, operative time, and smoking were identified as independent related risk factors. Therefore, we recommend that a smoking cessation program is introduced immediately at the time of admission to hospital. More reasonable management strategies on open injury should be utilized to reduce the SSI rate.

Spinopelvic fixation and triangular osteosynthesis give firm internal fixation for unstable pelvic ring injuries (UPRI), but with sacrifice of mobility of the lumbar spine. Here, we describe the procedure and outcomes of a new approach, which we refer to as "within ring"-based sacroiliac rod fixation (SIRF). ⋯ "Within ring"-based SIRF not including the lumbar spine in the fixation range is a simple, safe, and low-invasive internal fixation method for UPRI.

The decision to resurface the patella during total knee arthroplasty (TKA) remains controversial. This prospective cohort study aimed to evaluate the outcome and survivorship of the native patella in computer-assisted TKA (CAS TKA) implanted for primary knee osteoarthritis, and to determine the predictive factors of secondary patellar resurfacing (SPR). ⋯ Therapeutic Level II (prospective cohort study).
