Functional implications of femoral offset following hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fracture.
Inadequate reconstruction of femoral offset after total hip arthroplasty (THA) is associated with unfavourable outcomes, but its importance following hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fracture is unknown. ⋯ We found a clinically relevant relationship between femoral offset and functional outcome after hemiarthroplasty in elderly patients, comparable with that of THA, for treating osteoarthritis.

This paper analyzed outcomes of the osteosynthesis with a locking plate system for the fractures of the humerus in throwers using the anterior humeral approach. ⋯ The results of the current study indicates that plate osteosynthesis using a locking plate system combined with interfragmentary lag screws through anterior humeral approach may be a favorable option for the surgical treatment of humeral shaft fractures in throwers.

The aim of this study was to analyse possible indicative parameters for percutaneous ilio-sacral stabilisation and to identify parameters associated with screw misplacement. ⋯ We conclude, that twofold ilio-sacral screw positioning from one side increases the risk for screw misplacement. In this case, alternative techniques like navigation should be considered. Anterior screw perforation represents a common problem with a high incidence and warrants particular attention.

The purpose of this study was to describe the operative procedures and clinical outcomes of a new three-column internal fixation system with anatomical locking plates on the tibial plateau to treat complex three-column fractures of the tibial plateau. ⋯ A three-column internal fixation system with anatomical locking plates on tibial plateau is an effective and safe tool to treat complex three-column fractures of the tibial plateau and it is more convenient than the common plate.

This study reports a new approach for percutaneous endoscopic lumbar iscectomy (PELD), especially for soft, highly down-migrated lumbar disc herniation. ⋯ PELD via a translaminar approach could be a good alternative option for the treatment of soft, highly down-migrated lumbar disc herniation.
