Case Reports[Osteoarthritis and tenosynovitis of the finger due to Mycobacterium intracellulare. A case report and review of the literature].
The authors present one case of osteo-arthritis and tenosynovitis of the right forefinger due to Mycobacterium intracellulare, in a 61-year old woman. The treatment consists of a synovectomy of the finger's proximal interphalangeal joint and of the sheath of the flexor tendons and a drug regimen associating erythromycin and cotrimoxazole for 2 1/2 months. This therapy proves successful, as the patient is clinically cured. A literature review records 19 similar osteo-articular and peri-articular infections due to the Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare group, reported during these last 25 years.

[Medical decision assistance. Logical method and application to thyroid diseases (author's transl)].
Medical diagnosis assistance is described in terms of step by step logical reasoning methods. Boolean functions, possibly connected with phi-fuzzy functions, and a theorem proving algorithm may be used at each step. The choice merely depends on the accuracy of diagnosis at a given step. Numerical results based on a study of patients with thyroid diseases are presented.

[Effect of the steroid sex hormones on the LH and FSH responses to LHRH in the normal subject].
In man both basal gonadotrophin levels and the pituitary responses to LHRH remained relatively constant throughout life. In women the pituitary sensitivity varied in the menstrual cycle due to the typical cyclic variation of oestradiol and progesterone. The max delta LH increase to 100 mug LHRH was observed in the periovulatory period (183 +/- 41 mU/ml); it was also significantly higher in the luteal (49 +/- 7 mu/ml) than in the early follicular phase (18 +/- 3 mU/ml). ⋯ In menstruating women a significant estradiol increase is observed 2 and 4 hours after a 100 mug LHRH injection, both during the follicular and the luteal phases whereas progesterone increases only in the luteal phase. In men, testosterone was found to increase 4 hours after a 100 mug LHRH injection. These studies show that in normal subjects, sex steroid hormones are important regulators of the sensitivity of the pituitary responsiveness to releasing hormone.

Among the complications of surgical operations gastric haemorrhages are often unpredictable. Detecting them during the infraclinical stage is possible by measuring hemoglobin in the gastric juice. We have adopted a method allowing the measurement of very low concentrations of hemoglobin.
