We report here the case of a 27-year-old man who consulted by telemedicine during the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, due to foreign body sensation and left eye redness. Examination revealed unilateral eyelid edema and moderate conjunctival hyperemia. ⋯ This case demonstrates that conjunctivitis can be the inaugural manifestation of the COVID-19 infection. It illustrates the interest of telemedicine in ophthalmology during the COVID-19 pandemic, since moderate conjunctival hyperemia can be the first sign of a severe respiratory distress.

The European Medicines Agency has defined Big Data by the "3 V's": Volume, Velocity and Variety. These large databases allow access to real life data on patient care. ⋯ This article shows how Big Data and Deep Learning can help in ophthalmology, pointing out their advantages and disadvantages. A literature review is presented in this article illustrating the uses of Deep Learning in ophthalmology.

Comparison of the h-indices of the editorial board members of seven ophthalmic subspecialty journals.
To investigate and compare the h-indices of the editorial board members of ophthalmic subspecialty journals. ⋯ The board members of Retina have the highest h-index and average citations per article, and J AAPOS have the least. These data provide useful benchmarks for comparison of the various subspecialty areas in ophthalmology.
