To investigate the effect of metastasis-associated gene MTA1 on proliferation and invasion potential of ovarian cancer cell line A2780. ⋯ MTA1 gene plays an important role in progression and metastasis of ovarian cancers, which provides an ideal strategy for gene therapy of ovarian cancers.

Oxysterol binding protein-related protein 9 (ORP9) may be related to the pathogenesis of cerebral infarction since it is closely related with glucose and lipid metabolism. The present study was designed to investigate the genetic relationship between ORP9 gene polymorphisms and cerebral infarction (CI) in Hunan Han population. ⋯ T allele of rs768529 may be a risk factor for the formation of the carotid vulnerable plaque in Chinese Hunan Han population.

Daniel John Cunningham-a multifaceted person: anatomist, author, anthropologist, academician and an able administrator.
Daniel John Cunningham was born on 15 April 1850 in Scotland. After his initial schooling at his home town, Crieff, he took up the study of medicine at the University of Edinburgh and passed with honours. He is best known for the excellent series of dissection manuals, namely Cunningham's Dissection Manuals. ⋯ He was a much respected man at both the cities of Edinburgh and Dublin. Above all, he strove for excellence with a human touch and his colleagues remembered him as a great human being. He passed away on 23 June 1909 at his home in Edinburgh.
