Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a deadly, chronic, progressive, irreversible interstitial lung disease characterized by the formation of scar tissue resulting in permanent lung damage. The average survival time following diagnosis is only 3-5 years, with a 5-year survival rate shorter than that of many cancers. Alveolar epithelial cell injury followed by irregular repair is the primary pathological process observed in patients with IPF. An evident characteristic of IPF is the development of fibroblastic foci representing active fibrotic areas. Most of the cells within these foci are believed to be myofibroblasts, which are thought to be the primary source of abnormal extracellular matrix production in IPF. The lung phenotype in IPF is characterized by significantly different processes from healthy lungs, including irregular apoptosis, oxidative stress, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) pathways. ⋯ These findings strongly suggest that the mechanism of lung fibrosis is heavily under control of non-coding RNAs, and RNA-based therapies could be a promising approach for future therapeutic interventions to lung fibrosis.

Increasing data are available on the use and efficacy of rituximab (RTX) in patients with anti-muscle-specific tyrosine kinase (MuSK)-positive myasthenia gravis (MG), especially those steroid-dependent or unresponsive to traditional immunotherapies. ⋯ RTX is an effective treatment in anti-MuSK-positive MG. Furthermore, our results support the inhibition of antibody production by RTX and we recommend monitoring anti-MuSK antibody titers to follow disease progression and treatment response.

Peripheral myofascial mechanisms have been identified as contributors to migraine pathophysiology. The specific comorbid relationship between migraine and cervical trigger points may exacerbate the occurrence and severity of migraine attacks. Trigger point injections (TPIs) are frequently employed to address headaches and alleviate migraine symptoms. The current study explores the impact of concurrent myofascial trigger point injection (MTrPI) and occipital nerve block (greater occipital nerve block [GONB] + lesser occipital nerve block [LONB]) on the severity of headaches and the number of migraine attacks in individuals with chronic migraine (CM) and cervical myofascial trigger points (MTrPs), with a comparison of occipital nerve block alone (GONB + LONB). During trigger point examination and injection, trapezius, levator scapulae, splenius capitis, temporalis, and sternocleidomastoid muscles were targeted. We planned the treatment based on whether they were in the muscle groups we determined, rather than the number of trigger points. ⋯ The combination of repeated MTrPIs and ONB proves more effective than ONB alone in managing patients with CM and cervical MTrP. In patients with CM, performing TrPs examination and adding treatments for this may contribute to the treatment. In cases where patients endure prolonged episodes of headache associated with chronic migraine, the inclusion of trigger point injections alongside peripheral nerve blocks may offer enhanced therapeutic benefits.

Level one evidence reported poorer outcomes among patients taking dietary supplements after breast cancer (BC) diagnosis. ⋯ In summary, supplement use is prevalent among BC patients. Development of guidelines in relation to safe use of dietary supplements after cancer diagnosis is crucial.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that morbidity and mortality due to Parkinson's disease (PD) are increasing faster than for other neurodegenerative conditions. People with Parkinson's (PwP) present with a variety of motor symptoms, such as tremor, bradykinesia, and rigidity. Freezing of gait (FoG) is a significant motor symptom that manifests as temporary episodes of inability to move one's feet, despite the intention to walk. ⋯ This study shows that FoG is a significant detriment to the QoL of PwP, from the perspectives of patients and carers. This method of assessing FoG and QoL using online questionnaires has potential to enhance the reach and flexibility of this type of research. These findings will inform future studies on larger cohorts and highlight unmet clinical needs in PwP.
