Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) regulates inflammatory response and CD4+ T cell differentiation in autoimmune diseases, while its clinical role in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) lacks sufficient evidence. Subsequently, this study intended to explore the vertical change of PCSK9, and its linkage with T helper (Th) cells, regulatory T (Treg) cells, clinical features, and treatment outcomes in RA patients. ⋯ Circulating PCSK9 shows the potency as a biomarker for disease management and treatment outcome prediction of csDMARDs in RA.

Histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) regulates lipid accumulation, inflammation, endothelial injury, and atherosclerosis to participate in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to explore the value of serum HDAC4 change before and after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in predicting major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) risk in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. ⋯ Serum HDAC4 is decreased from baseline to D1, then elevated until D7, and its increased level correlates with lower MACE risk in ACS patients receiving PCI.

Colorectal cancer is a common cause of cancer-related deaths. About 1/3 of all cases present with distant metastasis, with the liver as the leading site and the lung as the most common extra-abdominal site. ⋯ Local interventions that are applied to highly selected patients may improve the survival of metastatic colorectal cancer patients. A close follow-up after local therapies is important to diagnose recurrent disease because repeated local interventions may be possible to achieve better outcomes.

Comparison of syncope risk scores in predicting the prognosis of patients presenting to the emergency department with syncope.
Various scores have been derived for the assessment of syncope patients in the emergency department (ED). ⋯ The CSRS may be used as a safety risk score for a 30-day risk of MACE and mortality after discharge from the emergency department.

Dihydrotestosterone is a more potent androgen derived from testosterone and androstenediones, but its measurement has not been routinely recommended in women with hirsutism, and there is limited information in this regard with equivocal findings. This study aimed to evaluate serum dihydrotestosterone level in patients with hirsutism compared to women without hirsutism. ⋯ Measuring dihydrotestosterone level is not considered in routine evaluation of hirsutism, but we think that this significant difference shows that elevated level of dihydrotestosterone hormone in women with hirsutism is an important factor.
