Oscillating positive expiratory pressure (OPEP) devices play a key role in airway clearance, particularly in patients with cystic fibrosis. These devices, however, have the potential to become reservoirs for pathogenic organisms and require daily, or even more frequent, cleaning. This places a large burden on patients and their carers. ⋯ The UL-OPEP device is a small, disposable OPEP device, that generates pressure and oscillation amplitudes for clinically effective airway clearance. The device negates the need for cleaning and disinfecting, removing the risk of devices acting as a potential reservoir for pathogenic organisms while maintaining mucus-clearing benefits.

Overweight and obese patients are known to have more diseases than normal weight individuals, but it is currently unknown if there is higher utilization of computed tomography (CT) exams among those with larger body sizes. ⋯ Our first-of-its-kind study demonstrating the manyfold use of CT in patients with large body sizes may be interesting for healthcare policy planning and developing guidelines for allocating resources for obese patients.

The Iowa Satisfaction with Anesthesia Scale (ISAS) is a valid and reliable measurement tool developed to evaluate patient satisfaction with anesthesia care during different surgical interventions. It is adapted to various languages and used in many studies. Considering the satisfaction of the patient with anesthesia applied in surgical procedures, the presence of such a measurement tool is crucial. ⋯ Based on the psychometric evaluation, ISAS-T is a valid and reliable measurement tool for measuring patient satisfaction with anesthesia applied during different surgical procedures.

Balance and coordination are important for performing activities of daily living. Balance and coordination assessment and training are used by physiotherapists in many different rehabilitation areas. Marmara Balance and Education System (MarBES) is a device developed to evaluate and improve balance and coordination. ⋯ Objective evaluation of balance and coordination parameters is very important in rehabilitation. Results of the study showed that the MarBES device developed by the researchers is a reliable method for the evaluation of balance and coordination in healthy young individuals.

The globalization of healthcare systems, and the aim to lower healthcare costs have all contributed to the growth of telehealth technology in recent years. However, before these systems are put into use, their efficacy should be verified. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study focusing on the evaluation of functional exercise capacity using the 30-s sit-to-stand (30-s STS) test as a tele-assessment method in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ This study shows a good level of agreement between tele-assessment and face-to-face assessment of the 30-s STS test. Our study's findings indicate that tele-assessment is a potential application to determine the level of physical capacity remotely in patients with T2DM.
