Palliative care (PC) for children with life-limiting conditions (LLC) is a holistic approach to achieve the best quality of life. ⋯ Our study highlights the growing number of LLCs and current pediatric and PC services require further resources and development.

Vitamin B12 deficiency is common in Ireland, The Irish Longitudinal Study on Aging (TILDA) survey indicates 12% of over 50s in Ireland are low or deficient. The condition is commonly managed exclusively in general practice. ⋯ This closed loop audit demonstrated that there was over treatment and under investigation of patients with B12 deficiency in general practice and that auditing of this process could both reduce risk for patients and save money and time.

There is a worldwide struggle to quit smoking and prevent relapsing. Aerobic exercises are frequently utilized to aid in smoking cessation and prevent relapse. ⋯ The benefits of mild and moderate aerobic exercise on quality of life and anxiety are similar. However, mild-intensity aerobic exercises may be suitable for sleep difficulties while moderate-intensity aerobic exercises may be preferred for reducing smoking addiction.

Minimum unit pricing (MUP) is one aspect of the Public Health (Alcohol) Act 2018 to limit the detrimental health impacts of alcohol use. Alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) can occur within hours to days after alcohol cessation. This audit assesses two periods to see if the introduction of MUP had a significant impact on acute alcohol-related medical reviews mediated through a change in the incidence of AWS. ⋯ At this institution, the introduction of MUP did not result in increased presentations with alcohol-related medical complaints. It is unlikely that it leads to an increase in the incidence of AWS.
