Cell division cycle 42 (CDC42) regulates macrophage polarization, vascular inflammation, atherosclerosis progression, and modifies differentiation of T helper (Th) cells, while its potential as a biomarker in coronary heart disease (CHD) patients is still lacking. This study aimed to evaluate CDC42 expression, its correlation with Th1, Th2, and Th17 cells, adhesion molecules, and biochemical indexes in CHD patients. ⋯ CDC42 correlates with Th2 cells, Th17 cells, and adhesion molecules, also reflects inflammation, coronary stenosis degree, and cholesterol level in CHD patients.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) reflects a deficiency in the relative need for insulin during pregnancy, as well as temporary metabolic stress in the placenta and fetus. Our study aimed to research the potential diagnostic value of transforming growth factor-beta-induced protein ig-h3 (TGFBI) and transforming growth factor beta-2 proprotein (TGFB2) for GDM patients. ⋯ TGFBI and TGFB2 were up-regulated in the placenta and plasma of GDM patients, and TGFBI and TGFB2 in the plasma are potent to be diagnostic markers for the GDM.

To establish the demographics, injury patterns, management and outcomes of paediatric major trauma patients at Cork University Hospital (CUH). ⋯ Paediatric trauma is of low volume, creating challenges in terms of preparedness. The annual number of paediatric major trauma presentations to CUH, including road trauma cases, remains roughly constant.

Patients presenting with chest pain may or may not be experiencing a panic attack. Is chest pain caused by a panic attack or myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) syndrome? ⋯ Clinicians should pay attention to the patient's age, gender, number of attacks per week, HEART score, and which symptoms (palpitations, shortness of breath, and fear of death) are present in patients who meet the panic attack diagnostic criteria. Clinicians should be alert to the MINOCA syndrome in panic attack patients.
