Epiregulin: A new prognostic molecule in non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Epiregulin is a molecule that plays a role in cell proliferation, tumor development, inflammation, and angiogenesis in malignant diseases. ⋯ Our study suggests that serum epiregulin levels, discovered to increase in NHL patients for the first time, may be an independent predictive molecule in an advanced stage, extranodal involvement, and the DLBCL subtype of this disease. Epiregulin positively correlates with prognostic molecules such as beta 2-microglobulin, LDH, and CRP. Illuminating its potential role in NHL pathogenesis could make epiregulin a vital drug target for treatment.

The objective was to investigate the current evidence and discern urinary continence rates post robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALP). ⋯ Early continence rates were improved across numerous techniques in RALP. These results were not translated into significantly improved long-term outcomes. Continence rates following RALP were favourable compared to LRP, similar to ORP and less favourable compared to BT. Our findings suggest that post-RALP continence can be further improved with alterations in robotic technique.

The genomic knowledge on urothelial carcinoma is expanding. It is recognised that urothelial carcinoma is a disease with a high somatic mutation rate and a high prevalence of genetic alterations, as discussed by Thomas and Sonpavde (2022). In the context of a disease rich with somatic alterations, continuing efforts to better identify which patients may benefit most from targeted therapy, immunotherapy and combination therapy may ultimately lead to improved outcomes for patients with this disease. ⋯ This study provides an understanding of the use of NGS and prevalence of genomic alterations in an Irish patient population.

In-hospital stroke refers to a stroke arising in a patient during hospital admission for another condition. Between 2 and 17% of all inpatient strokes are in-hospital strokes. ⋯ When compared with community-onset stroke, in-hospital stroke represents a distinct stroke subgroup with poorer outcomes and delays to thrombolysis emphasising the need for standardised approaches to evaluation and management.
