Aerobic exercise improves vascular endothelial function in people with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). There is minimal information available regarding vascular health in people with T2DM and diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Thus, the primary aim of this secondary analysis was to determine whether a 16-week aerobic exercise intervention could improve vascular health in people with T2DM and DPN. A secondary aim was to explore the relationship between changes in flow-mediated dilation (FMD) and the number of years since diagnosis of DPN. ⋯ Aerobic exercise was beneficial for improving measures of vascular health but these were not statistically significant. The magnitude of change may be affected by the duration of DPN.

Purpose/aim: Blood pressure (BP) regulation is recommended following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) to prevent re-bleeding and to treat delayed cerebral ischemia. However, optimal BP thresholds are not well established. There is also variation with regard to the BP component (e.g. systolic vs. mean) that is targeted or manipulated.

The effects of Nintendo Wii(TM)-based balance and upper extremity training on activities of daily living and quality of life in patients with sub-acute stroke: a randomized controlled study.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Nintendo Wii(TM)-based balance and upper extremity training on activities of daily living and quality of life in patients with subacute stroke. ⋯ These findings suggested that the Nintendo Wii training was as effective as Bobath NDT on daily living functions and quality of life in subacute stroke patients.

Preoperative embolization of meningiomas decreases intraoperative bleeding and shortens operation time. However, in meningiomas predominantly vascularized by the internal carotid artery (ICA) or vertebral artery (VA) branches, embolization of external carotid artery feeder branches may lead to a hemodynamic increase in blood supply from the ICA or VA, whereas embolization of ICA or VA feeder branches with particle embolic agents may be associated with complications. This study investigated the safety and efficacy of Glubran, a liquid embolic agent, for the embolization of this type of meningioma compared with polyvinyl-alcohol (PVA) particles. ⋯ Preoperative meningioma embolization with Glubran decreases intraoperative blood loss and operative time. Furthermore, embolization with Glubran produces more effective devascularization compared with PVA for meningiomas supplied by the ICA and/or VA. Thus, Glubran may represent a better embolic agent for this meningioma subtype.

Rechargeable deep brain stimulation (DBS) system with longer battery life has become available for treating movement disorders. However, little information exists about the safety and management after implantation. Therefore, there is an urgent need to evaluate the recharging performance through long-term observations. ⋯ The PD patients could easily and safely recharge this new rechargeable implantable neurostimulators. Thus, these neurostimulators might be an excellent choice for PD patients.
