Long-term breast cancer survivors' perceptions of support from female partners: an exploratory study.
To describe the social support experiences of long-term breast cancer survivors who have female partners, from the perspective of survivors. ⋯ Future research and direct investigation may inform healthcare providers about caring for SMW and their families following breast cancer.

Pilot study of a survey to identify the prevalence of and risk factors for chronic neuropathic pain following breast cancer surgery.
To provide a preliminary determination of the prevalence rate of women who suffer from neuropathic pain post breast surgery (PPBS) and explore potential risk factors associated with its development. ⋯ Nurses are ideally situated to identify early signs of PPBS. In addition, nurses play a key role in the education of patients and healthcare professionals and can facilitate increased awareness about the possibility of developing PPBS, enabling earlier and more effective treatment of PPBS.

Clinical TrialInterACTIV: an exploratory study of the use of a game console to promote physical activation of hospitalized adult patients with cancer.
To explore the application of the Nintendo Wii game console to motivate hospitalized adult patients with cancer to be physically active during treatment periods. ⋯ Nurses can recommend the use of game consoles such as the Nintendo Wii for physical exercise; in addition, the motivational effects of playing motion-activated game consoles might be particularly helpful for patients with cancer-related fatigue to overcome barriers and begin exercise.

Clinical subgroups of a psychoneurologic symptom cluster in women receiving treatment for breast cancer: a secondary analysis.
To investigate clinical subgroups using an empirically identified psychoneurologic symptom cluster (depressed mood, cognitive disturbance, fatigue, insomnia, and pain) and to examine the differences among subgroups in the selected demographic and clinical variables, as well as in patient outcome (i.e., functional performance). ⋯ Findings are useful to determine who needs more intensive symptom management during cancer treatment. Future studies should examine whether specific symptom management strategies are more efficient for certain subgroups.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyA randomized, clinical trial of education or motivational-interviewing-based coaching compared to usual care to improve cancer pain management.
To test the effectiveness of two interventions compared to usual care in decreasing attitudinal barriers to cancer pain management, decreasing pain intensity, and improving functional status and quality of life (QOL). ⋯ By using motivational interviewing techniques, advanced practice oncology nurses can help patients develop an appropriate plan of care to decrease pain and other symptoms.
