ReviewDelirium in older adults with cancer: implications for practice and research.
To provide a comprehensive review of the literature and existing evidence-based findings on delirium in older adults with cancer. ⋯ Ongoing assessment opportunities and close proximity to patients' treatment experiences foster oncology nurses' mastery of this common exemplar of altered cognition in older adults with cancer. Increasing awareness of and knowledge delineating characteristics of delirium in older patients with cancer can promote early recognition, optimum treatment, and minimization of untoward consequences associated with the historically ignored example of symptom distress.

Impact of adjuvant breast cancer chemotherapy on fatigue, other symptoms, and quality of life.
To identify differences in fatigue, other physical symptoms, and psychological symptoms and their relationship to quality of life (QOL) during chemotherapy and as long as one year after. ⋯ Interventions targeting primary or cluster symptoms can reduce the impact of adjuvant chemotherapy on fatigue, other symptoms, and QOL.

ReviewSleep wake disturbances in people with cancer and their caregivers: state of the science.
To review the state of the science on sleep/wake disturbances in people with cancer and their caregivers. ⋯ All patients and caregivers need initial and ongoing screening for sleep/wake disturbances. When disturbed sleep/wakefulness is evident, further assessment and treatment are warranted. Nursing educational programs should include content regarding healthy and disrupted sleep/wake patterns. Research on sleep/wake disturbances in people with cancer should have high priority.

Randomized Controlled TrialA cognitive behavioral intervention for symptom management in patients with advanced cancer.
To evaluate the effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral intervention in decreasing symptom severity in patients with advanced cancer undergoing chemotherapy. ⋯ Problem-solving strategies should be included in educational programs for patients with advanced cancer, particularly those 60 years of age and younger.

To assess burnout among clinical research coordinators (CRCs) and to determine which personal and job-related factors are associated with burnout. ⋯ Nurses are involved significantly in clinical trial coordination. High burnout rates have potentially negative implications for data quality and productivity in clinical trial data management-important values for nursing and the clinical research profession.
