Case ReportsElective use of aortic balloon occlusion in cesarean hysterectomy for placenta previa percreta.
Only few reports are available on the use of aortic balloon catheter for cesarean hysterectomy in placenta previa percreta. ⋯ An aortic balloon is rapidly and easily inserted, and is an option for major hemorrhage in placenta previa percreta.

Case ReportsStiff-person syndrome first manifesting in pregnancy.
Stiff-person syndrome (SPS) is a rare neurological disorder characterised by progressive stiffness and painful muscle spasms. We present a case of the autoimmune form of glutamate decarboxylase-positive SPS that initially manifested in pregnancy. ⋯ The patient was administered low doses of diazepam and baclofen. Considering the clinical picture of SPS patients, caesarean section is the method of choice for pregnancy termination.

Case ReportsPneumomediastinum during the fourth stage of labor.
Postpartum spontaneous pneumomediastinum (Hamman's syndrome) is a very rare event with an estimated incidence of 1 in 100,000 deliveries. It occurs mainly in the second stage of labor and is potentially lethal. ⋯ She was admitted to the intensive care unit with a suspected diagnosis of amniotic fluid embolism. A chest radiograph revealed a pneumomediastinum that finally resolved with oxygen therapy and supportive management in 3 days.

Poor reliability of vaginal and endocervical cultures for evaluating microbiology of endometrial cavity in women with chronic endometritis.
Chronic endometritis (CE) is a subtle pathology causing infertility and abnormal uterine bleeding. We evaluated the reliability of vaginal and cervical cultures for detecting infectious agents at the endometrial level. ⋯ Common bacteria and U. urealyticum were the prevalent infectious agents in the uterine cavity of women diagnosed with CE. Both vaginal and endocervical cultures had low concordance with endometrial cultures. Only C. trachomatis test at cervical level had high concordance with endometrial findings.

Review Case ReportsFull-term abdominal pregnancy: a case report and review of the literature.
Abdominal pregnancy is a rare, life-threatening condition. ⋯ We present this case to call attention to the clinicians and ultrasonographers that it is always important to bear in mind the possibility of abdominal pregnancies especially in the condition of fetal malpresentation, history of abdominal pain, malformations or oligohydramnion.
