Multicenter StudyIs the Freedom SOLO Stentless Bioprosthesis a Useful Tool for Patients with Aortic Endocarditis and Aortic Annular Destruction?
The Freedom SOLO (FS) stentless bovine-pericardial prosthesis with a supra-annular implantation technique can be a viable option for patients with endocarditic annular destruction. We assessed early- and long-term outcomes following the use of this prosthesis in extensive aortic valve endocarditis. ⋯ FS stentless bioprosthesis is a valuable and simple option to achieve AVR in patients with extensive aortic annulus endocarditis. Although in this group of complex patients, early mortality remains considerably high, late survival outcomes are comparable to the more technically demanding homografts and conventional stentless bioprostheses, with low rates of endocarditis recurrence.

Early Clinical Experience with Double Ring Implantation for Aortic and Mitral Valve Repair.
Reconstruction of cardiac valves is associated with reduced mortality, including in multiple valve surgery. However, multiple valve repair is still considered a challenge, even with established techniques. Recently, internal aortic ring annuloplasty has been introduced and could simplify multiple valve reconstruction. ⋯ This initial series demonstrated the feasibility and safety of combined aortic and mitral repair with double rings. Clinical and hemodynamic results were promising. Increasing application and more clinical experience with combined aortic and mitral double ring repair seems indicated.

Ten Years' Experience in Robotic-Assisted Thoracic Surgery for Early Stage Lung Cancer.
This study analyzed the short- and long-term outcomes of robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) for early stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ Besides the well-known short-term outcomes showing very low morbidity and mortality rates, mediastinal lymph node dissection during RATS adequately assesses lymph node stations detecting occult lymph node metastasis and leading to excellent oncologic results. However, these results await longer follow-up studies.

Observational StudyEarly Prognostic Value of High-Sensitivity Troponin T after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting.
Periprocedural myocardial injury after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) may affect the patient's prognosis and may be due to a different set of factors beyond the atherosclerotic plaque instability. Considering the challenges in the diagnosis of myocardial injury after CABG, the aim of this study was to determine the association between postoperative early elevation of high-sensitivity troponin T (hsTnT) and all-cause 30-day mortality after CABG. ⋯ In our series, age and higher postoperative hsTnT levels were independent and reliable predictors of all-cause 30-day mortality after CABG.

Comparative Study Observational StudyCT-Guided Chemical Thoracic Sympathectomy versus Botulinum Toxin Type A Injection for Palmar Hyperhidrosis.
The present study aimed to evaluate and compare the efficacy of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) injection versus thoracic sympathectomy for idiopathic palmar hyperhidrosis. ⋯ For palmar hyperhidrosis, thoracic sympathectomy is more effective and has a longer lasting curative effect than BTX-A injection, but thoracic sympathectomy has more complications.
