Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of a novel designed intensive patient care program on cognitive impairment, anxiety, depression as well as relapse free survival in acute ischemic stroke patients: a randomized controlled study.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the influence of a novel designed intensive patient care program (IPCP) on cognitive impairment, anxiety, depression and relapse-free survival (RFS) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Methods: Two hundred forty-two AIS patients were consecutively recruited in this randomized controlled study and randomly allocated to IPCP group or control group as 1:1 ratio. Patients received IPCP and conventional treatment in IPCP group, while received usual education, cognitive rehabilitation training and conventional treatment in control group for 12-month intervention. ⋯ Besides, RFS was numerically longer in IPCP group compared to control group, but without statistical significance. Conclusions: IPCP presents with a positive influence on improving cognitive impairment and decreasing anxiety as well as depression, while a less effect on improving RFS in AIS patients. Abbreviation: IPCP: intensive patient care program; RFS: relapse free survival; AIS: acute ischemic stroke; MRA: magnetic resonance angiography; ITT: intention-to-treat; LOCF: last observation carried forward.

Forward deployed coil embolization with multiple overlapping stents for ruptured blood blister-like aneurysms: technical considerations and outcomes.
Coil embolization with multiple overlapping stents was performed as an alternative treatment option for blood blister-like aneurysms (BBAs). However, coil placement into the BBAs has the inherent risks of rupture and regrowth. We describe a safe dense coil packing technique into and just proximal of BBAs using a semi-jailing technique for the treatment of BBAs of the internal carotid artery (ICA) and report the long-term clinical outcomes. ⋯ Forward deployed coil embolization with multiple overlapping stents offers a safe and effective reconstructive endovascular technique for the treatment of the BBAs.

Analysis of biochemical laboratory values to determine etiology and prognosis in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage: a clinical study.
The aim of this study was to establish prognostic and predictive markers in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) using simple laboratory methods. ⋯ NLR, PLR and eosinophil count values could be predictive for etiological factors (traumatic SAH or spontaneous SAH) of patients who were admitted unconscious to the emergency room with SAH detected on radiological imaging.

ReviewKeyhole approaches for surgical treatment of intracranial aneurysms: a short review.
Objective: To clarify the reported experience with keyhole approaches for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms. Methods: The PubMed and Embase databases were searched up to December 2017 for full-text publications that report the treatment of aneurysms with the eyebrow variant of the supraorbital craniotomy (SOC), the minipterional craniotomy, or the eyelid variant of the SOC. The anatomical distribution of aneurysms, the postoperative aneurysm occlusion rate, and the type and rate of complications were examined using univariate analysis. ⋯ Surgeons selected the eyebrow variant of the SOC for many aneurysm locations including in particular the ACoA. There is a recent tendency however to opt for the minipterional approach above all for MCA aneurysms. Abbreviations: SOC: Supraorbital Craniotomy; MPT: Minipterional; MCA: Middle Cerebral Artery; ACoA: Anterior Communicating Artery; PCoA: Posterior Communicating Artery; aSAH: Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage; PRISMA: Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses; MINORS: Methodological Index For Non-Randomized Studies.
