Randomized Controlled TrialVirtual mind-body treatment for geographically diverse youth with neurofibromatosis: A pilot randomized controlled trial.
To examine the feasibility, acceptability, preliminary effect, and durability of a mind-body videoconferencing program for youth with neurofibromatosis (Resilient Youth with NF; RY-NF) against an experimental educational control (Health Education for NF; HE-NF) via a single-blind pilot RCT. ⋯ The RY-NF was well accepted, highly feasible and resulted in sustained improvement in QoL, demonstrating adolescents are receptive to and benefit from learning resiliency skills in groups via live video.

Baseline resilience and depression symptoms predict trajectory of depression in dyads of patients and their informal caregivers following discharge from the Neuro-ICU.
To explore the impact of resiliency factors on the longitudinal trajectory of depressive symptoms in patients admitted to the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (Neuro-ICU) and their family caregivers. ⋯ Depressive symptoms in Neuro-ICU patient-caregiver dyads are high through 6 months. Mindfulness is protective against depressive symptoms and interdependent between patients and caregivers. Early, dyadic, mindfulness-based interventions may prevent the development of chronic depression in both patients and caregivers.

Hospital-presenting self-harm and ideation: Comparison of incidence, profile and risk of repetition.
The aim of this study was to describe presentations to hospital as a result of self-harm or suicidal ideation and to examine patterns of repetition. ⋯ Our findings indicate that hospital presenters with ideation are at high risk of future self-harm. The transition from ideation to suicidal behaviour is important to consider and research could inform effective and early intervention measures.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyBrief cognitive behavioral therapy reduces suicidal ideation in veterans with chronic illnesses.
We evaluated the effect of brief cognitive behavioral therapy (bCBT) on suicidal ideation among medically ill veterans receiving mental health treatment in primary care. ⋯ bCBT in primary care reduces suicidal ideation and may help prevent future suicidal ideation.

Observational StudyBenzodiazepine withdrawal in pregnant women with opioid use disorders: An observational study of current clinical practices at a tertiary obstetrical hospital.
As more patients are admitted for medical complications related to opioid use disorders, physicians are called upon to manage withdrawal from co-occurring substance use disorders. We present an observational study of pregnant women with comorbid opioid and sedative-hypnotic use disorders hospitalized for benzodiazepine withdrawal. ⋯ A symptom-triggered benzodiazepine withdrawal protocol was associated with significantly lower total benzodiazepine use compared to standing taper regimens. Women started on methadone during admission tended to receive lower lorazepam doses compared to women admitted on stable doses of methadone. Preliminary maternal/neonatal outcomes were similar between symptom-triggered and taper groups.
