Benzydamine HCL (Tantum) is a topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and local anesthetic activity. This paper reviews the pharmacology of benzydamine and surveys the existing literature relating to its applications in medicine and dentistry. Guidelines for its use in dentistry are offered.

Data on 1,373 emergency dental visits to a pediatric hospital during a calendar year period were reviewed. Chief complaints were categorized and the associated pathological conditions were identified and analyzed. A classification of pediatric dental emergencies is presented.

This paper reviewed the clinical features of the facial neuralgias, and described the demographic data for 24 cases of atypical facial neuralgia, seven cases of trigeminal neuralgia, two cases of cluster headache and one of glossopharyngeal neuralgia, which were all referred for investigation and treatment over a three-month period to a teaching hospital dental department.

Temporomandibular disorders are known to be a possible sequela of motor vehicle accidents, particularly when flexion-extension injury occurs. This paper recognizes the relationship between cervical injury and dysfunction, and temporomandibular dysfunction and headache. The literature related to motor vehicle accidents, whiplash injury, and temporomandibular dysfunction is reviewed, and the etiology, prognosis and management of the trauma associated with head and neck pain and dysfunction are presented.
