Randomized Controlled Trial
Evaluation of postoperative pain intensity following occlusal reduction in teeth associated with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis and symptomatic apical periodontitis: a randomized clinical study.
To assess the effect of occlusal reduction on postoperative pain following two visits root canal treatment in posterior mandibular teeth with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis and symptomatic apical periodontitis in a randomized clinical trial. ⋯ Occlusal reduction reduced levels of postoperative pain in posterior mandibular teeth with symptomatic pulpitis and apical periodontitis only 12 h following both canal preparation and root filling.

The role and effect of glide path preparation in root canal treatment remain controversial. This systematic review aims to compare apical transportation and canal centring of different glide path preparation techniques, with or without subsequent engine-driven root canal preparation. A database search in PubMed, PubMed Central, Embase, Scopus, EBSCO Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source and Virtual Health Library was conducted, using appropriate key words to identify the effect of glide path preparation (or its absence) on apical transportation and canal centring. ⋯ Risk of bias and other study design features with potential influence on study outcomes and clinical implications were assessed. Based on the available evidence, and within the limitation of the studies included, preparation of a glide path using rotary sequences performs similarly (in most of the component studies) or significantly better than manual preparation when assessing apical transportation or canal centring. When compared to the absence of a glide path, canal shaping following glide path preparation was of similar, or significantly better quality, in regard to apical transportation or canal centring.

To investigate the effects of the pro-inflammatory and Th17-polarizing mediator IL-17 on HDPFs-mediated IL-23 production and the molecular mechanism involved. ⋯ HDPFs expressed IL-17R and responded to IL-17 to produce IL-23 via the activation of the NF-κB and MAPK signalling pathways. The findings provide insights into the cellular mechanisms of the participation of IL-17 in the activation of HDPFs in inflamed pulp tissue.

To evaluate canal transportation and centring ability of ProTaper Next (PTN) and Twisted File Adaptive (TFA) systems using microcomputed tomographic (micro-CT) imaging. ⋯ PTN and TFA had similar results regarding canal transportation and centring ability.

To evaluate the full-text publication rates of scientific research abstracts presented at the European Society of Endodontology (ESE) Congresses held between 1993 and 2013 (a total of 11 occasions) and to determine factors associated with the manuscripts. ⋯ A substantial number of research abstracts presented at ESE congresses were not published in peer reviewed journals. Authors prefer to publish their research papers in international journals with high impact factor. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
