Comparative Study
Comparison of centring ability and transportation between four nickel titanium instrumentation techniques by micro-computed tomography.
To compare the centring ability and transportation of ProTaper Next (PTN), ProTaper Universal (PTU), Race 123 and RevoS using micro-computed tomography (μCT). ⋯ ProTaper Next prepared more centred root canal shapes when compared with Race, PTU and RevoS. In the coronal and middle third of the root canals, the differences in centring between PTN and PTU/RevoS were significant. PTN root canal preparations were more centred than those achieved with all other instruments in the apical third.

To assess the content and completeness of Youtube™ as an information source for patients undergoing root canal treatment procedures. ⋯ YouTube™ videos for endodontic search terms varied significantly by source and content and were generally incomplete. The danger of patient reliance on YouTube™ is highlighted, as is the need for endodontic professionals to play an active role in directing patients towards alternative high-quality information sources.

To evaluate the resistance to vertical root fracture of root filled teeth using different root canal preparation concepts: apical stop and continuously tapering preparation, with different foraminal enlargement. In addition, the effect of filling associated with these different concepts was assessed. ⋯ The different canal preparation techniques reduced resistance to fracture when compared with the control group; however, after root filling, there was a significant increase in resistance.

Retracted Publication
Retracted: Postoperative pain after irrigation with Vibringe versus a conventional needle: a randomized controlled trial.
The following article from International Endodontic Journal, 'Postoperative pain after irrigation with Vibringe versus a conventional needle: a randomized controlled trial' by D. Bilgili, S. Yilmaz, A. ⋯ Paul Dummer, and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. The retraction has been agreed because the corresponding author did not contact the first author who carried out the work before alterations to the article were made prior to submission. This damages the integrity of the work and there are additional concerns over the number of patients and the accuracy of the results and conclusions.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Efficacy of mepivacaine-tramadol combination on the success of inferior alveolar nerve blocks in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis: a randomized clinical trial.
To compare the success of an inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) after injecting a combination of mepivacaine and tramadol or mepivacaine alone in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (SIP) in mandibular permanent molars. ⋯ The combination of mepivacaine-tramadol achieved similar success rates for IANB when compared to mepivacaine 2% epinephrine 1 : 100 000. There was no significant difference in the anaesthetic efficacy between the control and experimental solutions, and none of the solutions tested were completely successful.
