Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Effects of three oral analgesics on postoperative pain following root canal preparation: a controlled clinical trial.
To compare the effects of single doses of three oral medications on postoperative pain following instrumentation of root canals in teeth with irreversible pulpitis. ⋯ A single oral dose of Naproxen, Novafen and Tramadol taken immediately after treatment reduced postoperative pain following pulpectomy and root canal preparation of teeth with irreversible pulpitis.

To investigate whether the additional diagnostic yield of a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) examination over conventional radiographs in patients primarily suspected of having atypical odontalgia (AO) improves differentiation between AO and symptomatic apical periodontitis (SAP) in patients with severe chronic intraoral pain. ⋯ Cone-beam computed tomography improves identification of patients without periapical bone destruction, which may facilitate differentiation between AO and SAP.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Access cavity preparation training using haptic virtual reality and microcomputed tomography tooth models.
To evaluate the effectiveness of haptic virtual reality (VR) simulator training using microcomputed tomography (micro-CT) tooth models on minimizing procedural errors in endodontic access preparation. ⋯ Training on the haptic VR simulator and conventional phantom head had equivalent effects on minimizing procedural errors in endodontic access cavity preparation.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparison of ropivacaine and articaine with epinephrine for infiltration anaesthesia in dentistry - a randomized study.
To compare the efficacy, onset time and duration of maxillary infiltration anaesthesia with 0.5% plain ropivacaine or 4% articaine with epinephrine 1 : 100 000 and to determine their possible influence on cardiovascular parameters. ⋯ Ropivacaine (0.5%) achieved effective and long duration of uninflamed pulp and soft tissue anaesthesia. Ropivacaine could be useful for long-lasting operative procedures without the need for a vasoconstrictor.

To assess the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of white mineral trioxide aggregate (WMTA) using the orofacial formalin test in rats. ⋯ White mineral trioxide aggregate, when compared with eugenol, was more effective in treating nociceptive pain in the orofacial formalin test.
