Observational Study
Blood routine test in mild and common 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) patients.
The new 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to the World Health Organization (WHO), has been characterized as a pandemic. As more is being discovered about this virus, we aim to report findings of the complete blood count (CBC) of COVID-19 patients. This would serve in providing physicians with important knowledge on the changes that can be expected from the CBC of mild and normal COVID-19 patients. ⋯ The CBCs of these patients, following a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, were retrospectively analyzed and a significant P<0.05 was found after a full statistical analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (IBM SPSS). CBC analysis revealed changes in the levels of red blood cells (RBCs), hemoglobin (HGB), hematocrit (HCT), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), and C-reactive protein (CRP). Clinicians should expect similar findings when dealing with the new COVID-19.

SNHG15 has been reported to be aberrantly expressed in various tumor tissues and could serve as a promising prognostic cancer biomarker. Previous studies on SNHG15 yielded inconsistent results with insufficient sampling. Here, a meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the prognostic value of SNHG15 in multiple cancers. ⋯ It revealed that lncSNHG15 might be a promising prognostic biomarker of multiple cancer types, especially in Glioma.

Meta Analysis
Association between vitamin D receptor BsmI, FokI, and Cdx2 polymorphisms and osteoporosis risk: an updated meta-analysis.
Many studies have reported the association between vitamin D receptor (VDR) polymorphism and osteoporosis risk. However, their results were conflicting. Six previous meta-analyses have been published to analyze VDR BsmI, FokI, and Cdx2 polymorphisms on osteoporosis risk. However, they did not evaluate the reliability of statistically significant associations. Furthermore, a lot of new articles have been published on these themes, and therefore an updated meta-analysis was performed to further explore these issues. ⋯ These positive findings should be interpreted with caution and indicate that significant association may most likely result from less-credible, rather than from true associations or biological factors on the VDR BsmI and FokI polymorphisms with osteoporosis risk.

Ultrasound-guided costoclavicular block (CC-approach) is a recently described brachial plexus block (BPB) and an alternative approach to the supraclavicular approach (SC-approach). The relevant sonoanatomy is analogous in terms of the brachial plexus and its adjacent artery for both approaches. In the present study, we hypothesized that the two approaches will result in similar block dynamics when used the modified double-injection (MDI) technique. ⋯ No significant differences were found for complete motor blockade and onset times of the individual nerves within 30 min, and block-related serious adverse events (all P>0.05). We conclude that the MDI technique applied to a costoclavicular and supraclavicular block resulted in similar block dynamics. In addition, it may provide a promising alternative technique when considering the use of multipoint injection.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been involved in the development of multiple pathological processes including neuropathic pain. The aim of the present study is to investigate the role of lncRNA down-regulated in liver cancer stem cells (DILC) in the progression of neuropathic pain and its underlying mechanism. Neuropathic pain rat model was established with the bilateral chronic constriction injury (bCCI) method. ⋯ Furthermore, down-regulation of DILC increased the viability of primary microglia, suppressed apoptosis, and inhibited the production of interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-1β in microglia. In contrast, overexpression of DILC showed the opposite functions to those of DILC knockdown. In conclusion, silence of lncRNA DILC attenuates neuropathic pain via SOCS3-induced suppression of the JAK2/STAT3 pathway.
