The primary aim of this study was to determine if computed tomographic (CT) texture analysis measurements of the tumor are independently associated with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with unresectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), including both unresectable locally advanced and metastatic PDAC, who were treated with chemotherapy. ⋯ Pretreatment CT quantitative imaging biomarkers from texture analysis are associated with PFS and OS in patients with unresectable PDAC who were treated with chemotherapy, and the combination of pretreatment texture parameters and tumor size have the potential to perform better in survival models than imaging biomarker alone.

The correlation between intra-operative 2D- and 3D fluoroscopy with postoperative CT-scans in the treatment of calcaneal fractures.
The aim of this study was to determine the correlation of the intra-operative fluoroscopic 2D- and 3D-images compared with a postoperative CT-scan, in terms of quality of reduction and fixation of calcaneal fractures. ⋯ Implant position can be evaluated satisfactory with the aid of intra-operative 3D imaging. Although intra-operative 3D imaging had a better agreement with postoperative CT-scanning than 2D-imaging, there is a need to improve image quality and suppress scattering from implants to improve the additional value of intra-operative 3D imaging in calcaneal fracture reduction and fixation.

The aim of the present study was to develop and validate a radiomics-based nomogram for differentiation of pre-invasive lesions from invasive lesions that appearing as ground-glass opacity nodules (GGNs) ≤10 mm (sub-centimeter) in diameter at CT. A total of 542 consecutive patients with 626 pathologically confirmed pulmonary subcentimeter GGNs were retrospectively studied from October 2011 to September 2017. All the GGNs were divided into a training set (n = 334) and a validation set (n = 292). ⋯ The nomogram model demonstrated good discrimination and calibration in both training set (C-index, 0.716 [95% CI, 0.632 to 0.801]) and validation set (C-index, 0.707 [95% CI, 0.625 to 0.788]). Decision curve analysis (DCA) indicated that radiomics-based nomogram was clinically useful. A radiomics-based nomogram that incorporates both radiomics signature and mean CT value is constructed in the study, which can be conveniently used to facilitate the preoperative individualized prediction of the invasiveness in patients with subcentimeter GGNs.

The utility of 68Gallium-DOTATATE PET/CT in the detection of von Hippel-Lindau disease associated tumors.
Patients with von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease may develop various tumors, including neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas (PNETs) and adrenal, central nervous system and retinal hemangioblastomas, kidney tumors and more. 68Ga-DOTATATE positron emission tomography (PET)/computerized tomography (CT) has been shown to be highly accurate for tumors with cells expressing somatostatin receptors. We aimed to assess the performance of 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT in patients with VHL disease. ⋯ 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT had a significantly higher detection rate when compared with anatomic imaging for all lesions, and comparable detection rate for pancreatic lesions in VHL patients. Hence, given the higher accuracy and lower radiation exposure associated with 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT, its potential role in the surveillance of VHL-associated lesions should be further studied.

To investigate the feasibility of three-dimensional fast spin echo (3D-FSE) imaging with compressed sensing (CS) and parallel imaging (PI) compared to 3D-FSE imaging with only PI in evaluating ankle joint pathologies. ⋯ Isotropic 3D-FSE ankle MRI with CS provides acceptable diagnostic performance with reduced scan time. Compressed sensing-related artifacts could be minimized with CS reconstruction enhancement, allowing for better image quality for evaluating ankle joint pathologies.
