To evaluate the risk factors involved in the development of pulmonary hemorrhage complicating CT-guided biopsy of pulmonary lesions in coaxial and non-coaxial techniques. ⋯ Pulmonary hemorrhage complicating CT-guided core biopsy of pulmonary lesions, showed insignificant difference between coaxial and non-coaxial techniques. Significant risk factors of pulmonary hemorrhage included small and basal lesions, increased lesion's depth from pleural surface, increased length of aerated lung parenchyma crossed by biopsy needle and passing through vessels within the lung during puncture.

Ultra low-dose chest CT using filtered back projection: comparison of 80-, 100- and 120 kVp protocols in a prospective randomized study.
To assess lesion detection and diagnostic image quality of filtered back projection (FBP) reconstruction technique in ultra low-dose chest CT examinations. ⋯ Filtered-back-projection technique allows optimal lesion detection and acceptable image quality for chest-CT examinations at CDTIvol of 0.9 mGy for lung and mediastinal findings in selected sizes of patients.

We aimed to clarify the usefulness of free-breathing readout-segmented echo-planar imaging (RESOLVE), which is multi-shot echo-planar imaging based on a 2D-navigator-based reacquisition technique, for detecting malignant liver tumor. ⋯ Despite the effect of motion artifacts, RESOLVE provides a comparable detectability of the lesion and the advantage of reducing scanning time compared with SS-EPI.

Pathology in the urinary tract is one of the most frequent queries when children are referred for an ultrasound examination. Comprehensive ultrasound examinations can answer most clinical questions of the urogenital tract with minimal patient preparation and without the use of ionising radiation. Therefore, optimised imaging protocols should be available in all radiology departments where children are examined. This review suggests a preferred imaging protocol for urogenital imaging in children and gives an overview of the different structures of the urogenital tract, the normal age-related sonographic anatomy, and gives examples of the most commonly encountered diseases of the urogenital system in children.
