To understand the current practice of interventional radiology (IR) morbidity and mortality (M&M) meetings among interventional radiologists in Europe, and to develop a set of results-based recommendations to increase the prevalence of IR M&M meetings. ⋯ The data demonstrate that although current practice of M&M meetings in European IR departments is limited, the majority of respondents believe that M&M meetings are beneficial to their practice. There is a need for guidelines or standards of practice to incorporate such meetings in IR departments to prevent medical errors, which may ultimately lead to enhanced patient safety and outcomes.

To evaluate the effect of normal aging on brain volumes and examine the effects of age and sex on the rates of changes in global and regional brain volumes. ⋯ The results of our study indicate that brain atrophy accelerates with increasing age and that there is no gender difference in the rate of brain atrophy.

To compare test bolus and bolus tracking for the determination of scan delay of high-pitch dual-source CT pulmonary angiography in patients with suspected pulmonary embolism using 50 ml of contrast material. ⋯ A homogeneous opacification of the pulmonary arteries and sufficient image quality can be achieved with both the bolus tracking and test bolus techniques with significant lower contrast doses compared to conventional contrast material injection protocols.

The purpose of our study was to retrospectively evaluate the specificity, sensitivity and accuracy of computed tomography (CT), digital radiography (DR) and low-dose linear slit digital radiography (LSDR, Lodox(®)) in the detection of internal cocaine containers. ⋯ CT was the most accurate test studied. Therefore, the detection of internal cocaine drug packs should be performed by CT, rather than by conventional X-ray, in order to apply the most sensitive exam in the medico-legal investigation of suspected drug carriers. Nevertheless, the higher radiation applied by CT than by DR or LSDR needs to be considered. Future studies should include evaluation of low dose CT protocols in order to address germane issues and to reduce dosage.

Hepatic hemangiomas: difference in enhancement pattern on 3T MR imaging with gadobenate dimeglumine versus gadoxetate disodium.
To compare intraindividual differences in enhancement pattern of hepatic hemangiomas between gadobenate dimeglumine (Gd-BOPTA) and gadoxetate disodium (Gd-EOB-DTPA)-enhanced 3T MR imaging. ⋯ The enhancement patterns of hepatic hemangiomas differs significantly between Gd-BOPTA and Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced 3T MR imaging. The smaller dose, shorter plasma half-life, and increased hepatobiliary uptake of Gd-EOB-DTPA leads to a negative CNR of hemangioma-to-liver on delayed phases and could create an imaging pitfall with this agent.
