Meta Analysis
Maternal complications following open and fetoscopic fetal surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To establish maternal complication rates for fetoscopic or open fetal surgery. ⋯ Maternal complications occur in 6.2% fetoscopic and 20.9% open fetal surgeries, with serious maternal complications in 1.7% fetoscopic and 4.5% open procedures. Reporting of maternal complications is variable. To properly quantify maternal risks, outcomes should be reported consistently across all fetal surgery studies.

To describe and compare placental and amniotic histology in women who underwent a fetoscopic myelomeningocele repair to those who underwent an open hysterotomy myelomeningocele repair. Also, we intended to compare findings from both prenatal repair groups to age-matched control pregnant patients. ⋯ These preliminary results support the lack of detrimental effects of the use of heated and humidified CO2 gas for uterine insufflation to fetal membranes and placenta.

Suspected Dandy-Walker continuum anomalies constitute a significant percentage of prenatal cases evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). To unify the description of posterior fossa malformations, we sought to establish objective measurements for the posterior fossa in normal fetuses between 18 and 37 weeks gestation. ⋯ The superior posterior fossa angle, a novel measurement, and the posterior fossa perimeter can be used for establishing the expected size of the posterior fossa in second- and third-trimester fetuses by MRI.

To evaluate the incidence and characteristics of unusual twinning by using single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array to identify twin zygosity. ⋯ Single nucleotide polymorphism array can provide zygosity diagnosis in addition to chromosomal copy number variation and uniparental disomy detection. ART twin pregnancies have a risk of unusual twinning, such as monochorionic dizygotic, single-embryo transfer twin pairs with discordant karyotypes or dizygotic, and dichorionic monozygotic with vascular anastomoses from day-5 transfer.
