Reduction of severe spondylolisthesis is controversial. Publications have emphasized the techniques of reduction and associated complications, but there is little knowledge about the effect of reduction on the sagittal balance of the spine and pelvis in the postoperative patient. This study evaluated the effect of surgical reduction and instrumented fusion of spondylolisthesis on the pelvic anatomy and spinopelvic sagittal balance. ⋯ IV-case series.

Congenital myotonic dystrophy (CMD) is a dominantly inherited disorder manifested in childhood by muscle weakness which can be profound at birth, but which progressively improves over the first few years. Congenital myotonic dystrophy represents the severe end of the spectrum of myotonic dystrophy, which in milder cases may not be diagnosed until adulthood. The goal of the study was to identify and quantitate the musculoskeletal deformities which may significantly affect the function of children with CMD. ⋯ Retrospective study; level IV.

Severe complex hypoplastic chest wall and spine deformity with thoracic insufficiency syndrome may be associated with premature death secondary to multisystem involvement. The vertical expandable prosthetic titanium rib (VEPTR) reconstructs the chest wall to address the thoracic insufficiency seen in this patient population. The purpose of this study is to report the mortality and life-threatening adverse events in a cohort of subjects with severe hypoplastic chest wall deformity, specifically with Jeune syndrome and Jarcho-Levin syndrome, after treatment with the VEPTR device. ⋯ Therapeutic study, Level IV (case series, no comparison group).
