Comparison of medial and lateral ultrasound-guided approaches for periarticular injection of the thoracolumbar intervertebral facet joints in horses.
To compare ultrasound-guided lateral and medial approaches for periarticular injections of the thoracolumbar intervertebral facet joints (IFJ). ⋯ Ultrasound-guidance facilitated accurate periarticular injection of thoracolumbar IFJ irrespective of using a medial or lateral approach.

Evaluation of a midhumeral block of the radial, ulnar, musculocutaneous and median (RUMM block) nerves for analgesia of the distal aspect of the thoracic limb in dogs.
To evaluate a technique for midhumeral peripheral nerve blockade in the dog. ⋯ RUMM block may be an effective technique to provide adjunctive analgesia for dogs undergoing surgery of the distal aspect of the thoracic limb.

Inverse dynamics analysis of the pelvic limbs in Labrador Retrievers with and without cranial cruciate ligament disease.
To quantify net joint moments, joint powers, and joint reaction forces (JRF) across the hock, stifle, and hip joints in Labrador Retrievers with and without cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) disease. To investigate differences in joint mechanics between normal, CCL deficient, and contralateral pelvic limbs. ⋯ Reductions in joint motion, loads, and muscle contraction were interpreted as modifications adopted to reduce or avoid painful mobilization of the injured stifle joint. The increased joint moment and power of the contralateral compensating side may correlate with the lameness observed, but also with the predisposition of contralateral limbs to CCL deficiency in dogs.

Comparative StudyComparison of kinematic variables in defining lameness caused by naturally occurring rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament in dogs.
To (1) discover kinematic variables that differ between dogs with cranial cruciate ligament rupture (CCLR) and control dogs and (2) to identify suitable outcome variables for longitudinal studies on the effects of surgical interventions for CCLR in dogs. ⋯ This study identifies several variables that can provide the objective measurements essential to evaluate the efficacy of surgical interventions for CCLR in dogs.

Effect of transection of the caudal menisco-tibial ligament on medial femorotibial contact mechanics.
To evaluate the effect of transection of the medial caudal menisco-tibial ligament on contact mechanics in a canine cadaveric model of cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) rupture and tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO). ⋯ The abnormal cartilage contact stresses after transection of the caudal menisco-tibial ligament may have a negative impact on the cartilage homeostasis and predispose to further degeneration of the medial compartment after TPLO.
