The cost and length of hospitalization for acute myocardial infarction in the US are significantly higher for the Hispanic population. However, differences in comorbidities and procedure utilization do not fully explain this disparity. Additional process measures are needed to better describe these differences.

Cardiac computed tomographic angiography for risk stratification and prediction of late cardiovascular outcome events in patients with a chest pain syndrome.
Contrast-enhanced multidetector cardiac computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) has high sensitivity and specificity for diagnosing anatomic coronary stenoses, but its role in predicting late clinical outcome events has not been well studied. ⋯ CCTA was useful to predict late clinical outcome events in patients undergoing evaluation of a chest pain syndrome.

Rocuronium-induced coronary vasospasm--"Kounis syndrome".
A 49-year-old male became hypotensive, bradycardic, and suffered myocardial injury during induction of anesthesia with lidocaine, propofol, and rocuronium in the operating room. Coronary arteriography revealed coronary vasospasm in coronary arteries otherwise free of disease. ⋯ An allergic reaction to rocuronium with coronary vasospasm is suspected, suggestive of the Type 1 variant of Kounis syndrome. This is the first report to describe a case of rocuronium-induced Type 1 Kounis syndrome.

Aortic insufficiency and cardiac herniation associated with blunt chest trauma.
Aortic insufficiency and cardiac herniation due to pericardial rupture after blunt chest trauma are rare complications and are usually associated with high mortality. We report on a patient with simultaneous aortic insufficiency and cardiac herniation. ⋯ At a later stage, he developed dyspnea on effort and a final diagnosis was completed. He was successfully treated surgically.

Pseudo-aneurysm in ascending aorta detected 15 years after aortic valve replacement.
We describe the case of a woman which was found incidentally on catheterization to have a pseudo-aneurysm of the ascending aorta at the site of a previously (15 years ago) implanted metallic prosthetic aortic valve. Angiographic and computed tomography images are provided, which demonstrate the pseudo- aneurysm.
