The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of implementing a new technique, intradermal injection lymphoscintigraphy, at rest and after muscular exercise on the functional assessment of the lymphatic system in a group of patients with delayed or absent lymph drainage. ⋯ Intradermal injection lymphoscintigraphy gives a better imaging of the lymph drainage pathways in a shorter time, including cases with advanced lymphoedema. In some patients with lymphoedema, a 2-min exercise can accelerate tracer drainage, showing several compensatory mechanisms of lymph drainage. The effect of the exercise technique on TAT and lymphoscintigraphy findings could result in a more accurate functional assessment of lymphoedema patients.

The purpose of this study was to assess the value of 2-[F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ([F]FDG PET/CT) in the primary staging of high-risk endometrial cancer patients. ⋯ The major benefit provided in high-grade tumor patients by the use of [F]FDG PET/CT in the primary staging of endometrial cancer is its ability to accurately detect distant metastases in the abdomen and extra-abdominal regions. [F]FDG PET/CT adds relevant information that may influence patient management.

An image-processing algorithm (AUTOROI) has been developed to totally automatically (or with manual assistance) detect whole-kidney contours and generate renal regions of interest (ROI) for the extraction of the quantitative measurements used in the interpretation of Tc-mercaptoacetyltriglycine (Tc-MAG3) renograms. ⋯ AUTOROI provides an objective and promising approach to automated renal ROI detection.

Extranodal natural killer (NK)/T-cell lymphoma is a rare neoplasm and limited data has reported regarding the utilization of fluorine-18, fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) in this disease. The aim of this study was to assess the role of F-FDG PET/CT in the staging of NK/T-cell lymphomas. ⋯ The lesions of the NK/T-cell lymphoma are F-FDG avid and PET/CT seems to be useful in the staging of this disease.

The aim of the study was to find out whether in [F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography (F-18 FDG-PET) performed in children in our department, the number of counts were sufficiently high to guarantee optimal image quality. ⋯ By following the official guidelines, the counts per voxel observed in children with our gadolinium oxyorthosilicate-PET system were lower than the minimal required to produce optimal quality images. More efficient PET systems or higher F-18 FDG dose or increasing the acquisition time or combination of these factors are needed to improve the image quality and lesion detection.
