Amyloid imaging clinically is usually reported as positive or negative, and the role of amyloid topography has not been studied before. To evaluate in a clinical setting the regional distribution patterns of C-Pittsburgh compound B (C-PIB) and the fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) uptake in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), we designed this study. ⋯ Two different C-PIB patterns were observed in MCI patients and for the A-pattern, glucose hypometabolism consistent with Alzheimer's disease is highly unlikely. These findings may contribute towards a better selection of patients for future potential treatments and also to optimize the use of F-FDG-PET/CT.

To assess the performance of Lu-DOTATATE peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) in metastatic gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (GEP-NET) and correlate it with primary tumor site, tumor proliferation index, and dual tracer imaging characteristics. ⋯ Our data show that high pretherapy F-FDG maximum standardized uptake values were associated with increased chances of treatment refractoriness in GEP-NETs. However, symptomatic improvement was observed in most cases irrespective of grade and F-FDG uptake. High pretherapy F-FDG maximum standardized uptake value in both low-grade and high-grade NET predicted a poor outcome and was associated with disease progression. Introduction of F-FDG-PET/CT parameter as a determinant of response classification increases the percentage of objective scan responders among patients with grades I and II GEP-NETs as F-FDG activity was observed to decrease before SSTR-based imaging and more frequently compared with the latter.

PET/computed tomography (CT) using fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) has been used in the diagnosis of recurrence and metastases of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) in cases of negative whole-body scan (WBS) despite elevated concentrations of stimulated thyroglobulin (Tg). ⋯ PET/CT is a useful tool in the detection of recurrence among thyroid cancer patients in cases of conflicting results of standard procedures, particularly for those with high Tg levels and negative WBS. The probability of obtaining a positive PET-CT result increases with the level of Tg.

The aim of this study was to determine the most relevant parameters of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) PET/computed tomography (CT) for predicting recurrence in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer. ⋯ Pretreatment TLG proved to be an independent prognostic factor for RFS in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer treated by definitive chemoradiotherapy.

We describe changes in elastofibroma dorsi (EFD) as observed in serial fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) PET-computed tomography (CT) imaging studies. ⋯ Serial PET-CT studies may show a stable or slowly enlarging mass on a CT scan without changes in F-FDG uptake on PET imaging. Familiarity with CT appearances and F-FDG uptake of EFD are important for correct interpretation of F-FDG PET-CT studies.
