Severe vitreous hemorrhage associated with closed-globe injury.
The presence of marked vitreous hemorrhage is associated with poor visual prognosis in ocular trauma involving the posterior segment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical features, prognostic factors, and visual outcomes in such eyes after closed-globe injury. ⋯ The visual prognosis of severe vitreous hemorrhage after closed-globe injury was guarded. This was frequently associated with various anterior and posterior segment pathologies. In order to provide early visual rehabilitation and management of any potentially treatable posterior pathology, early vitrectomy may be considered.

Randomized Controlled TrialIntravitreal dexamethasone as adjuvant in the treatment of postoperative endophthalmitis: a prospective randomized trial.
To study whether intravitreal dexamethasone as adjuvant to intravitreal antibiotics improves the outcome in patients with suspected postoperative bacterial endophthalmitis. ⋯ This small prospective, placebo-controlled series showed a trend towards a better visual outcome in patients with suspected bacterial endophthalmitis when treatment with intravitreal antibiotics was combined with intravitreal dexamethasone. Our findings justify a larger multicenter randomized study.

Case ReportsTraumatic dislocation of the globe into the maxillary sinus associated with extraocular muscle injury.
The mechanism of complete dislocation of an intact globe into the maxillary sinus after an extensive blowout fracture has not been clearly documented. ⋯ This case demonstrates that the globe can be dislocated into the maxillary sinus following orbital wall fracture associated with extraocular muscle injury, and provides a clue into the mechanism underlying dislocation of the globe into the maxillary sinus.

Frequency of ocular hemorrhages in patients with subarachnoidal hemorrhage.
Vitreous hemorrhage (Terson's syndrome) and other intraocular hemorrhages have been reported in up to 40% of patients with subarachnoidal hemorrhage (SAH). Our objective was to determine prospectively the frequency of intraocular involvement and its relationship to the grade of SAH. ⋯ Due to ocular involvement in more than a quarter of the patients with SAH and due to the fact that ocular involvement is related to the severity of SAH, screening of patients with SAH is recommended, especially when no reliable data about visual function are available. Early vitrectomy of vitreous hemorrhages provides a more effective rehabilitation.

Comparative StudyTraumatic globe rupture following penetrating keratoplasty.
To evaluate the mechanism, clinical characteristics, management and visual outcome of ocular trauma following penetrating keratoplasty (PK). ⋯ Traumatic wound dehiscence may occur, and the prognosis is poor after the injury. Globe rupture at the graft-host junction showed persistence of wound weakness even a long time after PK. Prevention of ocular trauma should be performed following PK.
