Multicenter Study Observational StudySafety and long-term efficacy of repeated dexamethasone intravitreal implants for the treatment of cystoid macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion with or without a switch to anti-VEGF agents: a 3-year experience.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of repeated dexamethasone intravitreal implants (DEX implants) over 3 years in eyes with macular edema (ME) secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) or central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). ⋯ DEX implants are an effective treatment for BRVO and CRVO-associated ME over 3 years. It is a valid treatment even though complications remain frequent. However, functional efficacy seems to decrease with time and repeated injections.

Pediatric abusive head trauma in Taiwan: clinical characteristics and risk factors associated with mortality.
To report the clinical characteristics of abusive head trauma (AHT) in Taiwan and identify the risk factors associated with mortality of these patients. ⋯ Respiratory distress or apnea, vomiting, SAH, and macular retinoschisis are independently associated with mortality in abusive head trauma. A complete ophthalmologic examination with the immediate visualization of intraocular injury should be performed to clarify the likelihood of child abuse and predict a potential poor neurologic outcome.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyMiSight Assessment Study Spain (MASS). A 2-year randomized clinical trial.
To compare myopia progression in children randomized to MiSight contact lenses (CLs) versus children corrected with single-vision spectacles (SV) over a 2-year period. ⋯ MiSight contact lens wear reduces axial elongation and myopia progression in comparison to distance single-vision spectacles in children. ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01917110.

The effect of anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha agents on the outcome in pediatric uveitis of diverse etiologies.
This study aimed to report the clinical outcome of children with uveitis treated with anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) agents. ⋯ Treatment of pediatric uveitis with anti-TNF-α agents may improve outcome while providing steroid-sparing effect, when conventional immunosuppression fails. The role of anti-TNF-α agents as first-line treatment should be further investigated in controlled prospective clinical trials.

Anatomical and functional outcomes following vitrectomy for dense vitreous hemorrhage related to Terson syndrome in children.
Our purpose was to assess anatomical and functional outcomes of vitrectomy in pediatric cases of Terson syndrome. ⋯ In children with massive vitreous hemorrhage secondary to Terson syndrome, vitrectomy is an effective procedure and offers a rapid visual improvement. Earlier surgical treatment prevents amblyopia and blood-related potential complications.
