The purpose of this study was to describe the sonographic appearance of the first annular (A1) pulley-flexor tendon complex in patients with trigger fingers. ⋯ Thickening and hyper-vascularization of the A1 pulley are the hallmarks of trigger fingers on sonography. Other frequently observed features include distal flexor tendinosis and tenosynovitis.

Accuracy of ultrasound-guided versus fluoroscopically guided contrast-controlled piriformis injections: a cadaveric study.
The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of ultrasound-guided piriformis injections with fluoroscopically guided contrast-controlled piriformis injections in a cadaveric model. ⋯ In this cadaveric model, ultrasound-guided piriformis injections were significantly more accurate than fluoroscopically guided contrast-controlled injections. Despite the use of bony landmarks and contrast, most of the fluoroscopically attempted piriformis injections were placed superficially within the gluteus maximus. Clinicians performing piriformis injections should be aware of the potential pitfalls of fluoroscopically guided contrast-controlled piriformis injections and consider using ultrasound guidance to ensure correct needle placement.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether perineural air injection before radio frequency (RF) ablation of thigh muscles can minimize thermal injury to the sciatic nerve. ⋯ Perineural air injection may be useful for reducing the frequency of thermal injury during RF ablation of lesions adjacent to nerves.

The aim of this study was to assess myometrial vascularization with 3-dimensional (3D) power Doppler angiography (PDA) in women with different grades of primary dysmenorrhea at the moment of maximum menstrual pain in an effort to improve the pathophysiologic knowledge of one of the most common gynecologic conditions. ⋯ This study evaluated the use of 3D PDA for assessing uterine and specifically myometrial vascularization. Our data indicate that women with severe dysmenorrhea have increased myometrial vascularization during the early menstrual phase compared with women without pain.
